Tips on How to Promote Your Business on Facebook using VISUALS

December 11, 2014 by DPKGraphics

People who like your Facebook page want to know more about your business and Facebook offers a convenient way to have a conversation with people who are interested in your business.

The good news is that small businesses can use Facebook to show off their personality more than traditional advertising. Facebook is a great way for small businesses to interact with customers and despite the well reported drop in posts reaching a page’s fans, Facebook is still the largest social network and has 1.23 billion users since beginning 10 years ago.

Why are VISUALS so important?

facebook_visual_businessWe live in a visual age and images influences how we feel, what we do, and what we buy.  Here are some statistics:

  • 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text.  This means any information you want to communicate is better communicated in the form of an image. It also means that, for an internet user skimming the web (or your website) you’ll be able to communicate more value, quicker.
  • 40% of people will respond better to visual information than plain text.  Incorporating eye catching visuals into your marketing is incredibly important. You only have less than five seconds to grab a person’s attention and images are an effective way to do this.
  • Facebook posts with photos account for 93% of the most engaging posts

  • Facebook posts with photos get 53% more likes, 104% more comments and 84% more click-throughs than text only posts

  • Images on social media get more engagement than links or text. Images on your website have a higher chance of being shared than anything else.

How to promote your business on Facebook using visuals

Every time you post, you have an opportunity to create curiosity, challenge people and inspire them. Here are some great techniques using visuals to increase interaction.

  • Posting Photos

Photos are the most shared and talked about posts on Facebook.  Posting photos of your product is good. Posting photos of your product in a creative way, related to you consumers’ lifestyles and motivations is better. It shows that you are understanding your consumer a little more, and not just pushing your product out to them.

There’s a quick and easy way to increase engagement and visibility for your Facebook page—choose the right type of content to share on Facebook.

When you post on your Facebook page, you can choose to use a variety of different types of content: most commonly photos, links, status updates and videos. And the type of content you share on Facebook impacts the engagement you get on your Facebook page.

Of all the types of content you can share, photos give the best results. Photos are most engaged with and reach the most people.

People love visual content. This means that photos get more visibility for your content on Facebook.

  • “Caption This”

A caption post involves asking your Fans to caption an image, or short video, you have posted. Use your product in your post to get people thinking and talking.  Use a photo where someone appears to be talking, or a photo that features several people who might talk to each other.

  • Inspirational Quotes

There are dozens of websites that feature famous quotes. These combine very well with images and captioning. As a business owner, you can easily use quotes to connect with your current and potential clients. One of the best days to do this is on Monday. On Facebook and other social media channels, “Motivational Monday” is a growing trend. Users post inspiring quotes, often represented in an image. You can add the words “Motivational Monday” in the status update, or hashtag the update (#MotivationalMonday).

Here area a few eye catching examples:

You can either come up with your own quote and add your name / website or use famous quotes that you can find online with reference to the original writer and add your business logo or use your branding colors.  The possibilities are endless.

We specialize in custom design for Facebook graphics and inspirational quotes.  Please contact me today for a quote.  These graphics range anywhere from $25 to $75 depending on the work involved and stock images used within the design.

  • Videos

Videos are another interactive way to engage your Fans with your product. It’s best to embed them directly onto your Facebook page, so your Fans don’t have to leave the site to watch.  Post videos that give your Fans exclusive coverage of an elite event that showcases your product. Or give your Fans video access to a behind the scenes look at your company products through a short video. Humor goes a long way on Facebook too. If it works with your products, making and posting short, funny videos can market your product well.

  • Client Testimonials & Reviews

Show how customers are using your products is a great way to build a stronger connection and helps create a community. Ask fans to share their photos!  You can also post testimonials or client reviews of your product or service.

Conclusion

Visuals show your products without telling people about them. This allows viewers to make their own decisions without feeling pressure from your business.

Visuals express ideas quickly – in a snapshot. This breaks through the overwhelming clutter of online content.

Go to a few Facebook fan pages of competitors and scroll down the page. What posts grab your attention? How many of them had images or visuals on them? You have heard of the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Now compare it with your own Facebook page.
