5 Essential Tools for a Small Business

June 28, 2017 by DPKGraphics

When you embark on a new business, you have a lot to think about in the beginning. Just getting past the business plan can be a struggle. However, there are a few things you need to make sure your business works well. These are even more essential if you are working from home on your own, as they will save you time and money. Here are some of the basic tools you need to for your company.

Analytics

Marketing is a big part of running a business, and that also means you need to know how your website is responding to your marketing efforts. Google Analytics will give you everything you need to know about how much traffic your site is generating. It will even break it all down for you into demographics.

There are also other ways you can crunch numbers: social media sites now typically have their own analytics sections where you can see how many followers you have and what has received the most engagement.

Storage

When we talk about storage, it doesn’t just mean filing cabinets; it means online storage for your files. There are some alternatives including Dropbox and Google Drive. They all offer a free amount of storage before you have to pay, however, it is a good idea to have all your documents to hand so you can access them wherever you are.

Website Builders

If you haven’t done so already, you will need to design and build your website. There are some great sites that allow you to design a site to your requirements. Sites such as Wix, WordPress, and Joomla, also offer free hosting if you are happy to have a site name which includes their name.

If you have the resources, you can hire a web designer to create a website for you. It can give you more freedom over what you can achieve.

Security

A big part of your plan should include having adequate security in place in case of data loss or hacking. Small businesses are particularly susceptible to hacking, so it is important to be a secure as possible.

If you do find that you have lost data or your system have become corrupted, then you should seek the advice of a professional data retrieval service such as Secure Data Recovery. Keeping regular back-ups of your information can also help to recover data more easily.

Freelancers

If you are working alone or with a small team, you might find that you don’t have enough time for all the work you need to do. This is where hiring freelancers from sites such as People per Hour or Up Work can save you time and hassle.

It also makes things easier because you can use them as you need without having to recruit permanent staff.

Having these tools available is the best way to organize your business and increase your productivity. You can always expand your storage and add extra tools as your business grows.
